Marshall Wace’s $3bn Global Healthcare long/short equity strategy invests in all sub-sectors of healthcare, including biotech, pharma, medtech, hospitals, managed care and other healthcare services. The team consists of a portfolio manager and three analysts with experiences that span scientific and medical research, business development and operations, equity research and consulting. The portfolio manager has a multi-year, long term track record of generating positive returns for institutional investors. The team conducts deep fundamental research that includes identifying shifts in market trends, analyzing scientific/clinical data, modeling key business and financial drivers for various subsectors, building financial models, and meeting with management teams.

Therapeutics Analyst Description

The Global Healthcare team is seeking to hire an analyst as a key team member supporting all aspects of its fundamental research process for therapeutic names. This analyst will be responsible for the therapeutic sectors with a focus on small to mid-cap biotech stocks. Candidates should have the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • D. and/or M.D. in life sciences-related disciplines from top institutions
  • Ability to effectively analyze a large body of scientific and clinical data
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
  • Strong ability to think critically and with level of depth
  • A self-starter mentality with an ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for the public markets
